The row near The Anvil in Dorning Street followed a draw between Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
Footage of the fight, which has been posted on social media, begins with a man lying on his back in the street.
Two others, dressed in black, appear to approach him when a dark-haired woman in a hoodie rushes up and slaps one of the assailants.
The man climbs to his feet before a boy in a gray hoodie jumps up to him from behind, swinging towards him and wrapping an arm around his neck.

As he stumbles, he is timed by a bald man as the cameraman says, “Oh, you d***.”
The dark-haired woman again rushes to try to protect him, but the assailant appears to hit her as well.
She then punched her attacker twice before being dragged away.
In the background, another man can be heard shouting, “Who the hell are you?”
In the middle of the 16-second clip, uniformed police can be seen walking towards the brawlers.
A Greater Manchester Police official said this evening: ‘Officers have been deployed as part of the proactive operation surrounding the Wigan v Bolton game.
“The operation resulted in 11 arrests.”
There is a long standing rivalry between Wigan and Bolton.
Just a day before the match, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt said Wigan fans should focus on their own club.
“Some of the things I say are provocative. I know I’m provocative, that’s undeniable,” he told the Manchester Evening News.
“But some of the things I say are for the benefit of my fans, my club and my players.

“It’s not for them (Wigan fans) to read and want to listen, I have no interest in them listening or reading what I have to say.
“They should focus on their own club like we focus on ours.”
