This here is the place I will be staying.
There isn't a number. You can call the pay phone.
Let it ring a long, long, long, long time.
If I don't pick up, hang up, call back, let it ring some more.
If I don't pick up, pick up... The sidewinder sleeps, sleeps, sleeps in a coil
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
There are scratches all around the coin slot
like a heartbeat, baby trying to wake up,
but this machine can only swallow money.
You can't lay a patch by computer design.
It's just a lot of stupid, stupid signs.
Tell her,
tell her she can kiss my ass, then laugh and say that you were only kidding.
That way she'll know that it's really, really, really, really me.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Baby, instant soup doesn't really grab me.
Today I need something more sub-sub-sub-substantial.
A can of beans or blackeyed peas, some Nescafe and ice,
a candy bar, a falling star, or a reading of Doctor Seuss;
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
The cat in the hat came back, wrecked a lot of havoc on the way,
always had a smile and a reason to pretend.
But their world has flat backgrounds and little need to sleep but to dream.
The sidewinder sleeps on his back.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
I can always sleep standing up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
I can always sleep standing up. Call me when you try to wake her.
Call me when you try to wake her up. Call me when you try to wake her.
I can always sleep standing up. Call me when you try to wake her.
I can always sleep standing up. Call me when you try to wake her.
We've got to moogie, moogie, move on this one.
Don't ask me what that's about. Part of it is trying to get into somebody's apartment to spend the night. The rest of it is just whatever Michael wanted to say. There are some things I just don't worry about. That's one of them.

We had to pay the writers of 'Wimoweh'. We didn't want to get into any trouble or have any hard feelings so we phoned them up and gave them a little bit of money. They were pretty flattered.

This song is possibly the worst song ever to listen to whilst trying to consentrate, you have to sing along. Great song. It doesn't ake sence and it's beautifull. I think REM composed a word for 'call me when you try to wake her up' though, sounds more like callmechildwakerh to me. Good, good.

Well whats an REM song where there is'nt a part where you can do nouthing but say what are they saying. What do they meen or how did they sing that so fast. Grate stuff.

I listen to this song for one reason, Micheal laughs right after he sings the line "or a reading of Dr. Suess" it makes me squeal like a little girl every time.

This song is so great! It always makes me laugh, not only because of the lyrics but also because my friend thought they were saying "Call me in Jamaica" instead of "Call me when you try to wake her up" xD

I've had many arguments with my boyfriend about whether or not "moogie" is a real word!! I used it all the time as a kid, but have no idea where I learned it. We used it to tell someone to get out of your way -- to move. Say you're skateboarding down the sidewalk, and someone is standing in your way, you shout out, "Moogie!!"

Classic song! I was a bit surprised when I heard this on on Automatic for the People, because that's quite a daek, moody album, but this song is one that simply makes me smile every time I hear it! ![]()

This is an amazing song! And the way he sings 'Call me when you try to wake her up' is amazing! All those words in 6 syllables instead of 9! He is so amazing and talented! His voice is so beautiful!
