This song and Shiny Happy People are the only REM songs that I just can't listen to. However, I think I like Shiny Happy People more than this one. It really grinds my nerves. And Michael's hair in the video... horrible.
He was right when he said this was the stupidest song ever written.

I still like this song probably because it was the first song I heard by them. It's what got me started.
I have a live version from 1989 where Michael introduces it as follows:
