By Anna I love the song. I think it is so funny, yet sad. In my opinion, its about the average person whpoois always trying to live life perfect, but he can't, because that's not reall life. Real life is not perfect or exactly correct, Life is just breaking lose. That is why the song is called Imitation of Life. Too Many people are trying to imitate life by being perfet, but they can't. Kepp writing the good music, REM!!

They have wealth and success but are unappy, they're imitating happiness and pretending that they're lifestyle is making them that way. They want to cry,but nobody will care, notice, and if they do, that will make things worse. Basically brakeing under pressure, trying not to show it. Great song.
